1-Day Portrait Drawing Workshop Learn how to start a portrait and get the proportions right. Drawing someone from life can feel daunting, especially when you’re unsure where to begin. This workshop takes you through those first stages, from drawing the overall shape of the head to working out where the eyes, nose, and mouth should go. Through demonstrations and individual guidance, you’ll learn how to compare shapes, distances, and angles, spot what needs adjusting, and make corrections before adding detail. Working from a live model, we’ll focus on the **block-in**: a simple drawing that maps out the head and features. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to draw a face—that’s what we’ll work on together. What we’ll cover Where to start Get the head the right size on the page and establish its shape and tilt. Placing the features Work out where the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears sit, and check their size and spacing. Spotting and correcting mistakes Learn ways to check your drawing, so you can see why something looks wrong and know what to change. Adding simple shadows Map out the main areas of light and shadow to begin giving the face depth. Who is it for?
