Service Description

I offer one-to-one drawing and painting tuition for people who would like to build their skills in a clear and supportive way. Sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already have some experience but want more structure and confidence in what they’re doing. We work from observation using traditional methods that help you understand proportion, light and shadow, and colour step by step. The aim is to make drawing and painting feel more manageable and logical, rather than something you have to guess your way through. Lessons are adapted to each student. Some people want help getting started, others want to improve portrait work, and some are returning to art after a long break. Wherever you’re beginning from, we focus on building strong foundations that you can keep using in your own work afterwards. Sessions usually take place in my Oxford studio, where I teach regularly alongside my studio practice as a painter. Online sessions are also available and work well for students across the UK and internationally.
