Portfolio Development for GCSE & A level Students

1 h
50 British pounds
Magdalen Road

Service Description

These one-to-one sessions support students in developing strong, well-organised sketchbooks and coursework portfolios for GCSE and A Level Art. The focus is on helping students understand what examiners are looking for, while building the practical skills and confidence needed to improve their work over time. Sessions are tailored to each student and can support both ongoing coursework and preparation for externally set assignments. Students are guided through how to structure their sketchbooks clearly, develop ideas more independently, and strengthen the link between research, experimentation, and final outcomes. Together we work directly with the four assessment objectives: AO1 – Develop ideas Learning how to research artists effectively and use that research to inform personal work rather than simply copying. AO2 – Refine experiments Exploring materials and techniques with purpose, showing thoughtful development instead of isolated exercises. AO3 – Record observations Improving drawing from observation, photography, and primary sources to strengthen the foundation of coursework. AO4 – Present outcomes Planning and producing final pieces that clearly connect to earlier sketchbook work and demonstrate a coherent journey. Alongside sketchbook development, sessions also support observational drawing, composition, use of materials, and confidence with technical skills, helping students produce portfolios that are more structured, personal, and aligned with exam expectations. Suitable for students working at GCSE or A Level who want clearer direction, stronger sketchbooks, and practical support improving their coursework and exam preparation.
